For nearly two decades, Sherri was an award-winning television journalist covering the business beat and breaking news for WLBT-TV, the local NBC affiliate in Jackson. She attended Arizona State University's Business School and graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a degree in Communications: Radio, Television and Film.

She has spent much of her life in marketing and business, running a successful retail store in Madison. Under her ownership, persnickety was named the top home accessory store in the nation and Best Gift Shop by Mississippi Magazine six years in a row. Sherri was awarded the Who's Who in Mississippi Business CEO Small Business Award by the Mississippi Business Journal. She was also named one of the 50 Leading Business Women in Mississippi.

Sherri has served on the Boards of the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Madison the City Chamber of Commerce, Madison ARK Animal Shelter, American Cancer Society, and has been an active member of the Cancer League, Symphony League and volunteers for MadCAAP, Madison Countians Allied Against Poverty.

Sherri and her husband Ken live in Madison and have been married for 23 years. They enjoy travelling and have been all around the world.
